Busy Bears provides a fun and stimulating environment for all children aged between 2 and 11 years, between the hours of 7.30am and 6.30pm, 51 weeks of the year. Busy Bears provides surroundings which ensure it’s children are cared for and educated in a healthy, safe and secure environment.
Children have access to a range of nursery toys and resources, musical instruments, art and craft, dressing-up etc. Each day the children that attend Day Care receive Day care sheet, detailing what they had for dinner, how much they ate and what they have done during the day.
Day Care
Busy Bears Day Care opened in 2006 and now caters for children from 2 to 4 years old. This runs from 7.30am until 6.30pm each day and provides a morning snack, a cooked meal around midday and a small afternoon snack. Day Care follows a fairly structured, yet flexible planning in the morning which adheres to the Birth to Three Matters Framework and provides free-play opportunities in the afternoon.
Many children of 2 years age attend day care all day and those of 3 and 4 who have a funded nursery session will attend this session, spending the remaining time in day care.
Day care follows the Birth to Three Matters Framework and operates on a system of strict staff ratios, to ensure the safety of all of the children in its care.
During the morning session day care follows planning that adheres to the Framework and focus on using play and activities to promote the various areas of children’s development.
After lunch, when the age group broadens, the session provides an opportunity for free-play with a range of activities on offer, such as sand, water, play dough, art and crafts and access to the outdoor area and equipment.
Children have access to a range of nursery toys and resources, musical instruments, art and craft, dressing-up etc. Each day the children that attend Day Care receive Day care sheet, detailing what they had for dinner, how much they ate and what they hae done during the day.
Children are provided with a cooked school meal at no extra cost, but may also bring a packed lunch along if they prefer.
Day care staff are happy to discuss work with you on an individual care matters such as toilet training and behaviour management.
Breakfast and After School
Busy Bears Club opened in 2003, initially providing After School and Breakfast facilities for a small number of children on a regular basis.
The number of children attending Busy Bears soon grew and it was necessary to broaden and extend the facilities of offer daily.
The Breakfast and After School clubs are now able to cater for up to 52 children between the ages of 2 and 11 with access to two bases to hold the clubs. (This is the regular Busy Bears building and also the Nursery).
The children have access to a small nursery garden in each base, both adjoining playgrounds (including equipment), all outdoor large apparatus and the nature trail, as well as a wide range of indoor equipment and facilities including the computer suite.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is open between 7.30am and 9.00am in the morning during term time. It provides an opportunity for children to socialise and play, before school whilst also providing them with breakfast.
Children are given a choice of a variety of cereals, toast with several toppings and on a Friday a cooked option of crumpets or croissants.
Day care and Nursery Children attend a separate breakfast club in the nursery building after 8.00am, where they will have access to a range of age appropriate activities and resources, whilst also being offered equivalent opportunities to play and socialise alongside their peers at breakfast.
After School Club
Busy Bears after school club runs from straight after school until 6.00pm. It caters for children between the ages of 2 and 11 and provides a stimulating environment with a variety of toys, games, sky+, Wii, Playstation 2 and activities, games and equipment.
The Club has access to two bases, as well as all of the schools outdoor facilities, (apparatus equipment and playground). Busy Bears also has access to the schools main computer suite.
Children from day care, nursery and reception will have access to a separate building from the older children and are currently based in the nursery building therefore enabling children access to a range of age appropriate activities and materials.
They have a small secure garden area with access to prams, bikes, dolls, slides as well as a range of activities that are well suited to the age range; construction toys, small world toys, dressing up, sand and water play etc.,
Older Children, of year 1 through to year 6 are grouped together in the main base and are provided with a range of things to do that are suited to the needs of these older children; games consoles such as Wii and Playstation2, large apparatus, access to goal posts and football tables, sewing and cross stitch, construction toys, board games etc. On certain days of the week children will participate in planned activities such as cooking, woodwork or going to the computer suite.
Holiday Club
Busy Bears also provides a Holiday Club which runs from 7.30am until 6.00pm during half terms and summer holidays and caters for all children, even those who attend other schools.
