Youngsters spent a week of their summer holidays creating a new garden.
The project was organised by Essex County Council officials, who led a team of Canvey youngsters clearing the overgrown land near Canvey Community Children’s Centre, at Furtherwick Park School.
Borough and town councillor Dave Blackwell, who also runs a garden centre, officially opened the garden.
He said: “They’ve made it into a really lovely garden and deserve a lot of credit. I was so impressed I donated some garden furniture.”
